Who Am I?

Chris Goulet, a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (A.C.E) the #1 nonprofit fitness certifying organization in the World.
A.C.E. is highly respected and recognized among fitness professionals and is considered by many as the gold standard of fitness certifications among trainers without a bachelors degree in Sports Medicine.
They are known as "the workout watchdogs" of the fitness industry and strive to keep fitness safe and effective through research and by making their trainers take continuing education courses to stay on top of the current fitness trends and the latest breaking science.

In addition to being certified by a leading fitness organization, I currently have one semester left at the University of Southern Maine where I will receive a Bachelors of Science in Health Fitness within the Sports Medicine Department.

Besides my extensive academic knowledge on the human body, exercise, and nutrition I also have both practical and personal experience.
In addition to having trained clients with various goals at gyms throughout the Greater Portland area, I have completed a personal training internship at U.S.M. where I performed fitness testing, created individualized programs for clients, participate in one-on-one training, perform follow-up evaluations to grade client progress, and gave fitness related workshops to the public.
Personally, I have been weight training for approximately 7 years, am a member of the North American Bodybuilding Federation (a drug-free organization), and am currently training for my first bodybuilding competition in August 2003.

What Can I Do For You?

I will give you the tools and motivation to reach your fitness goals.   There is a lot of unneeded confusion and get-fit-quick-gimicks in the fitness industry and I believe it is my job as a fitness professional to sort all of this out for you.   If you are one of these people who need direction, you are not alone.   You need someone who knows what they're talking about - that person is me.

Here Is How I Am Different From Other Personal Trainers:
* I hold current certification by a leading fitness organization along with 2 current CPR and Emergency Response certifications. It's important to find out if a trainer is current with his certifications because it shows that he/she is continuing their education, increasing their knowledge base, and is up to date on the latest fitness trends and research.

* I practice what I preach, preach what works and look the part - do you really want a trainer that looks like he/she has never stepped into a gym? If trainers can't motivate themselves to exercise how can they honestly expect their clients to be motivated.

* I know what works and what doesn't work.   I seperate proven science from hype. I've totally transformed my own body by gaining more than 50 pounds of pure muscle tissue in less than 6 years, naturally. On the other hand, I've recently lost more than 15 pounds of ugly fat in less than 12 weeks naturally and without cardio.

* I use and recommend Supplements that have been proven to work through science and research not because of fancy marketing schemes.  Clients absolutely do not need to use supplements to reach their fitness goals - but they are recommeded for convenience, to speed results, and for time management purposes.

* I understand the mind/body connection and its importance in breaking through boundaries.   Many exercisers just go through the motions and then wonder why they aren't seeing any real results or wonder why they've been setting the pin on the machine in the same spot or picking up the same set of dumbells since they started. I can give you tips and motivation that will help you shatter your old goals.

* Your training program is individualized specifically to you.   Everyone has different genetics, goals, limitations, schedules, and preferences so each program is unique to you - not a one size fits all approach.
